It will focus on the main grounds for separation and the legal consequences attached to the different grounds, citing local jurisprudence as practical examples. This lecture will focus on basic legal concepts relating to child protection, highlighting allocation of legal responsibility. It will cover the main elements of parental responsibility as defined in the Civil Code and the issues that arise when parents lose authority over their children, including the application of a Care Order under the Children and Young Persons (Care Orders) Act.
