The New EU Regulations on Matrimonial Property Regimes and Registered Partnerships – An Introduction to the Practitioner

Session Content

On the 29th January 2019 two new EU Regulations came into force. The first one establishes harmonized connecting factors to determine the law applicable to matrimonial regimes as well as jurisdiction to rule on all civil law aspects of such regimes. The second one establishes harmonized connecting factors to determine the law applicable to the property consequences of registered partnerships and to designate the jurisdiction competent to rule on all civil law aspects of such regimes.
