Security: Understanding Mechanisms to Secure Obligations

Course Outline

This course is a unique opportunity for all bank employees, employees of financial institutions, practitioners and other interested persons to familiarise and update themselves on the main mechanisms available under Maltese Law to secure obligations. The focus will be on the traditional modes of security and on their use in everyday banking transactions.

Lecturer: Dr. Kurt Xerri

Kurt Xerri is a Resident Academic within the Department of Civil Law at the Faculty of Laws of the University of Malta.  He received his Doctor of Laws and his Master of Arts in Law degrees from the University of Malta in 2013 and 2014 respectively.  In 2017, he successfully defended his Ph.D. thesis in Law at the Rovira i Virgili University, in Tarragona, Spain.  He has also served as a Senior Legal Officer at APS Bank.
